Get Healthy UAMS

Get Healthy UAMS is an institutional wellness program for all employees and students. Health is a state of wellbeing. All components of health need to be in balance and here at UAMS we try to help you balance all six: physical, spiritual, emotional, social, environmental and intellectual/mental wellbeing. Caring for the Nurse

Starting in January of 2021, frontline nurses will be able to register to attend a half day retreat focusing on strategies to combat stress and burnout in the nursing profession.  In a 2017 UAMS study conducted with multiple healthcare professional roles, nurses demonstrated higher risks of all three types of burnout, i.e., work related, personal and patient/client.  Furthermore, nurses demonstrated the highest risk of all professional roles studied in the category of personal burnout (Messias, Gathright, Freeman, Flynn, Atkinson, Thrush, Clardy and Thapa, 2018).

This four hour workshop will focus on the following topics:

  • Movement through Yoga for Healthcare Professionals
  • Mindfulness and Gratitude
  • Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals
  • Journaling and Resources available at UAMS
