Nomination for DAISY Award

The DAISY award ( is presented in over 1864 medical facilities in all 50 states and 15 countries.  Each recipient receives a DAISY pin, a framed certificate, hand-carved sculpture called the “Healer’s Touch” from the “Shona Tribe” in Zimbabwe and a celebration poster to display in their work place to recognize the special role nurses play every day in patient care. And, since every nurse who receives this award also reminds us that his/her entire team is also deserving of recognition and that it takes a team to provide great patient care, all the nurses and staff in the recipient’s work place are treated to Cinnabon’s!  Why?

Cinnabon’s are a token (in) remembrance of J. Patrick Barnes who was able to enjoy and share this comfort food with the nurses and nursing staff during his treatment. If you know of a deserving nurse who has shown extraordinary compassion, please open the link below to complete our online nomination form.

  • The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the parents of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from a disease attacking his immune system (hence the name DAISY) in order to recognize the excellent nursing care that their son received while in the hospital. The DAISY Award is a nation-wide program that rewards excellence in nursing and research funding. The award is open to any licensed nurse who provides direct patient care.
